The NYSUT Member Guide

What Every NYSUT Member Should Know

member guide

Welcome to NYSUT, our union representing more than 600,000 professionals who work in, or are retired from, New York’s schools, colleges and health care facilities.

We are classroom teachers, college and university faculty and professional staff, school bus drivers, librarians, custodians, secretaries, cafeteria workers, teaching assistants and teacher aides, nurses and health care technicians. We are one union — working together to remain strong for our members and champion the good work you do every day.

NYSUT’s number one priority is you, our member. We are dedicated to improving our working conditions and our professions. We are united by a common commitment to improve the quality of education and health care for the people of New York State.

NYSUT offers many benefits and services; take some time to familiarize yourself with them as outlined in this publication.

Thank you for all you do on the job, in your community and for our union. Because of you, NYSUT is stronger than ever!

In solidarity,

Melinda Person,
NYSUT President
