Albany, N.Y. - More than 50 area teachers will see the latest in technology and education innovation during a four-hour visit to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Tuesday, Oct. 7, beginning at 4 p.m. They will tour the EMPAC Center at 7 p.m.

The educators are NYSUT members interested in bringing the latest innovative approaches in technology to their classrooms. Many participated in the NYSUT/ SEMI High Tech U nanotechnology conference held at union headquarters in July. They are exploring the career and economic opportunities available to their students in the Capital District, and in regional and global technology marketplaces.

The educators will meet with administrators, faculty and students and will tour RPI's labs and new EMPAC Center to learn more about the institute's leading role in technology education.

NYSUT represents more than 600,000 teachers, school-related professionals, academic and professional faculty in higher education, professionals in education and health care and retirees. NYSUT is affiliated with the American Federation of Teachers, National Education Association, and the AFL-CIO.
