NYSABE holds poster contest for bilingual students

The New York State Association for Bilingual Education invites students with limited English proficiency and English language learners to enter a poster contest for the 2010 annual statewide conference.

The theme is "Bilingual Education: Pathway to Multicultural and Multilingual Learning Communities." The contest winner will receive a certificate and check for $500 presented at the annual NYSABE conference Awards Luncheon on Saturday, March 13 2010.

Eligible students must be enrolled in a New York state school between grades 7 - 12. Each entry must adhere to contest guidelines and requirements. Entries must:

  • Reflect the "Bilingual Education: Pathway to Multicultural and Multilingual Learning Communities" theme of the conference;
  • is produced in a pastel, colored pencil, watercolor paint, acrylic paint, oil paint, or a temper/gouache/poster paint medium;
  • be in color;
  • include a submission form;
  • be authentic and original work;
  • not include commercial characters and/or logos;
  • be between 8 1/2 " x 11" and 16" x 20"; and

Only one entry is allowed per student and submissions will not be returned.

The selected artwork will become the property of NYSABE and will be used to promote its annual conference and any NYSABE related activities.

The submission DEADLINE is Friday, November 19. Late entries will not be accepted.
