Five of NYSUT's "everyday heroes" are currently in the running to receive top honors from the American Federation of Teachers.
AFT members from around the country were nominated by their individual locals as AFT Everyday Heroes for being thorough and conscientious in their jobs, for giving generously of their time (to those they work with and to the community), and for going above and beyond the norm in their approach to life and to work.
The NYSUT contingent is up against stiff competition from places like Oklahoma, Dallas, Florida, Louisiana, Georgia and Oregon. All NYSUT members are encouraged to give their vote and support - and it is easy to do.
Go to http://www.aft.org/yourwork/everydayheroes.cfm to learn more about the candidates and to cast your ballot.
You may vote for one hero from each constituency. NYSUT candidates are listed below.
Encourage others in your local to vote today! The voting deadline is June 20, 2010.
