Celebration of Teaching and Learning: March 18-19

Source:  NYSUT Communications

The Celebration of Teaching & Learning is once again gathering the world's best experts and advocates, and more than 10,000 K-12 educators, for a professional development conference as exceptional as its participants. The Celebration will be held March 18-19, 2011 at the Hilton New York. NYSUT is a premier sponsor.

Where knowledge meets inspiration, the Celebration offers four distinct learning environments through plenary sessions, featured speaker sessions, hands-on "In the Classroom" workshops and interactive exhibitor halls. Each setting is focused on renewing passion and creativity in educators while providing opportunities for knowledge sharing among educators from across disciplines-and ranging widely in expertise and leadership experience-to help prepare students for the future. This year will address the Arts, English Language Arts, Global Awareness, Health & Wellness, Instructional Technology, Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), Social Studies, Special Education and Whole School Issues.

2011 features a dynamic list of speakers including Oliver Sacks, best-selling author and professor of neurology and psychiatry at Columbia University Medical Center; Leymah Gbowee, documentarian and executive director of Women Peace and Security Network Africa; Karen Cator, director of the Office of Educational Technology at the U.S. Department of Education; Milton Chen senior fellow at the George Lucas Educational Foundation; Diane Ravitch, education historian and author; and more to come!
