Rochester is the sole school district in New York State that is part of a collaborative effort to re-examine the school day and school year.

Federal and state grant money, as well as funding from private foundations, will help Rochester to add 300 hours of learning time at five elementary schools.

School districts in Colorado, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Tennessee are also participating.
