A record number of RA delegates - 2,306 - voted for all five statewide officers and 77 seats on the NYSUT Board of Directors. The Board comprises 47 election district directors and 30 at-large directors. Of those, 22 seats were contested. The election for ED 8 director is being recounted and is still undetermined.
NYSUT's Elections Committee, chaired by newly retired NYSUT Board member Rod Sherman of Plattsburgh, conducted the election according to the NYSUT Campaign and Election Procedures approved by the Board of Directors. The American Arbitration Association (AAA) assisted with tabulating the ballots and certified the election results.
Vote totals and roll call votes in contested elections will be published in the May issue of NYSUT United.
