NYSUT's delegation to the NEA's annual convention in Denver last week (pictured above) secured passage of a timely business item to protect tenure, due process and seniority. The business item was brought to the floor by NYSUT President Karen Magee.

The NYSUT delegation also worked to support the passage of other new business items, including a call to end toxic testing, a call to redefine public school accountability, and a call for the immediate resignation of Secretary of Education Arne Duncan.

A full recap of the convention, including reports on the convention's farewell to President Dennis Van Roekel and the acceptance speech of NEA President-elect Lily Eskelsen García, is available online at nea.org.
