ALBANY, N.Y. June 11, 2014 - New York State United Teachers President Karen E. Magee expressed sorrow today over the tragic shooting at Reynolds High School in Oregon that took the life of a 14-year-old student and injured one teacher.
"I am deeply saddened by the horrific event that took place in Oregon Tuesday," Magee said. "Our schools should be a safe haven for all - yet once again, children, teachers, staff and parents have been forced to confront another random act of violence. On behalf of NYSUT members, our hearts go out to all whose lives have been impacted by this senseless tragedy - especially the victims and their families."
