Retiree Reminder: Open Enrollment for Affordable Care Act ends March 31st

Source:  NYSUT Retiree Services

Dear Retiree Leaders, et al.:   Please read and post on your websites.

Do you have a child or grandchild who needs health insurance coverage?   Up until March 31st they can sign for health insurance at www.healthcare.gov for coverage under the Affordable Care act, a.k.a. "Obamacare."

According to Health and Human Services officials the website is working quite well and, nationally, the sign up time for an individual averages 33 minutes or a little bit longer if also signing up members of their immediate family.

Maybe your family is already blessed with coverage.  Please think about your neighbors and family friends.

Continue to be the great leaders that you are!  If you know of a neighbor or a friend—particularly ones with college-aged kids needing insurance coverage—reach out to them immediately and have them sign up for coverage.

4 million have already signed up for Obamacare.  Another 6 million have signed up for either private insurance through the ACA or signed up for their state's expanded Medicaid program.  Folks, in spite of multiple misrepresentations and lies about the Affordable Care Act, it is already working for millions of Americans.

Again, everyone has until March 31, 2014 to sign up before the end of open enrollment.  If they miss this deadline the next open enrollment period does not occur until November. One never knows what can happen to them in matters of a major health crisis between March and November.

For more information you can go to www.getcoveredamerica.org. Thanks, as always, for your immediate attention and action.

In Unity,

Floyd Cameron
