A week to show our appreciation

teacher appreciation
This is a big week for NYSUT members as NYSUT and its national affiliates - the American Federation of Teachers and the National Education Association - publicly celebrate the work members do and thank them for their commitment to students, their parents and the citizens of New York.

For starters, yesterday marked the kick-off of Teacher Appreciation Week, National Nurses Week and School Nutrition Employee Week.

Tomorrow is National Teachers Day while, on Wednesday, it's National Nurses Day and National School Nurses Day.

Teachers, SRPs and nurses - that's a big chunk of NYSUT's membership and all are deserving of recognition, especially in the wake of the many challenges they face as professionals and unionists.

The NYSUT website - nysut.org - will have more on how members and the public can celebrate nurses and nutritional workers later in the week but, for today, here are some helpful links to honor and #thankateacher

Today is National Teachers Day! #ThankATeacher today by sharing a photo of a teacher who made an impact on your life.
