ADVISORY: NYSUT convention kicks off Friday afternoon

Rochester, April 8, 2016 - More than 2,000 delegates, staff and guests are at the Riverside Convention Center in Rochester today for the start of New York United Teachers 44th annual Representative Assembly. Today's program includes an address by presidential candidate and former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, NYSUT President Karen E. Magee's State of the Union and a speech by NYSUT Executive Vice President Andrew Pallotta, who heads up the union's legislative and political action arm.

The following is today's tentative schedule:

2-3 p.m. General Session

  • Performance and National Anthem by Palmyra-Macedon High School Select Choir of Rochester
  • Greetings from Adam Urbanski, president of Rochester Teachers Association
  • Mario Cilento, president of the New York State AFL-CIO
  • Constituency Awards

7:30-10 p.m. General Session

The NYSUT RA is the union's largest policy-making body. NYSUT, with more than 600,000 members in education, human services and health care, is the state's largest union.
