ALBANY, N.Y. June 13, 2016 — New York State United Teachers President Karen E. Magee released the following statement today on this weekend’s mass shooting in Orlando:

“Words cannot begin to express the deep sadness we feel after yet another senseless mass shooting.  On behalf of NYSUT’s officers and our members across the state, we pause today and reflect on the loss of life, and rededicate ourselves to promoting unity and peace. We again commit ourselves fully to the work of our own LGBTQ Committee, which strives for tolerance, understanding and a better world for all students, educators and our society.

"Indeed, we are one.”
