NYSUT, in collaboration with NYSED, invites teachers who administered the 2016 New York State English as a Second Language Achievement Test (NYSESLAT) to join an interactive webinar at 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 8. NYSUT Vice President Catalina Fortino will host the webinar.
This is an opportunity to share your feedback about the NYSESLAT, especially regarding test length and format; quality and range of test items; developmental appropriateness, and clarity of rubrics and scoring.
It also will cover 2016 NYSESLAT Enhancements, including:
- Speaking: Rephrasing option
Student can repeat answer if inaudible
- Writing: Distinction between 0 score and no response
Revised student checklist
Annotated sample responses in scoring guide
Combined rubric and scoring notes for each grade band
- Listening, Reading, Writing: Unique sample questions for each test session
- Kindergarten: Separate tests for Listening, Speaking, and Writing
Format and presentation changes
Reduced number of answer choices
