NYSUT wants to make sure that every member knows that the Open Enrollment Period for 2018 New York State Qualified Health Plan coverage began on November 1, 2017 and runs through January 31, 2018. Through New York’s Independent Health Insurance Marketplace, NYSUT members who do not have health insurance through their employers may enroll in low cost, quality health insurance options.

To review options or check their eligibility, NYSUT members should click here.

NYSUT members in need of quality, affordable health insurance coverage can quickly compare health plan options and apply for assistance that could lower the cost of their health coverage. Some NYSUT members will also qualify for health care coverage from Medicaid or Child Health Plus through the Marketplace.

Since 2013, more than 3.6 million New Yorkers have enrolled in affordable coverage through the Marketplace. NYSUT members currently enrolled in a plan through NY State of Health will receive a notice about how to renew coverage for 2018 directly from the Marketplace. Notices will include information about how to select a plan. Consumers whose plans are discontinuing in 2018 – Affinity and CareConnect - will have options from other issuers.
