ALBANY, N.Y. March 24, 2018 — New York State United Teachers released the following statement on today’s March for Our Lives:

“Thousands of students and educators all across the country and in every corner of our state are standing up, raising their voice to demand action from our elected leaders. The time for excuses, inaction and stalemate is over. We must do everything possible to keep our loved ones, our schools and our communities safe. New York State United Teachers stands in solidarity with every child, educator, family and community that is demanding action to end gun violence.”

New York State United Teachers is a statewide union with more than 600,000 members in education, human services and health care. NYSUT is affiliated with the American Federation of Teachers, the National Education Association and the AFL-CIO.
