ALBANY, N.Y. Oct. 24, 2019 — New York State United Teachers President Andy Pallotta today released the following statement congratulating the Professional Staff Congress on reaching a tentative contract agreement:

“Strong unions fight for big wins for their members, and PSC’s nearly 30,000 members — and their students — have some big wins to be happy about in this contract agreement. From salary increases to professional development funding to a critical breakthrough on the issue of economic justice for adjunct faculty, this contract is a message to staff and students that the PSC truly is invested in the success of CUNY students. On behalf of NYSUT’s officers and members, I applaud the members of the PSC for their solidarity throughout negotiations and congratulate PSC President Barbara Bowen and her fellow PSC leaders for achieving an historic victory.”

New York State United Teachers is a statewide union with more than 600,000 members in education, human services and health care. NYSUT is affiliated with the American Federation of Teachers, the National Education Association and the AFL-CIO.
