To help members get through these challenging times, NYSUT’s Education & Learning Trust is rolling out two free virtual seminars with tips on technology and time management.
Registration is now open for “The Juggle” (S3), a time management seminar addressing the challenges of working from home, and “Help! I’m not Tech Savvy” (S4), which offers basic step-by-step instruction to help you navigate Google Classroom and Zoom.
NYSUT Executive Vice President Jolene DiBrango, who oversees ELT, said the two new seminars are part of a series of wellness seminars offered in response to the COVID-19 crisis. The seminars are free of charge, thanks to a grant from the National Education Association.
The first two courses, “The Airplane Oxygen Mask Principle” (S1) and “Developing Virtual SEL Environments for Youth” (S2) have proven to be popular, with a number of classes wait-listed.
“The Airplane Oxygen Mask Principle” seminar emphasizes the importance of taking care of yourself before you can effectively take care of others. The “Developing Virtual SEL Environments for Youth” seminar offers social and emotional learning techniques that build on your expertise while providing tips to help students succeed emotionally and academically during this pandemic. Both sessions 1 and 2 also include a 15-minute wellness check-in component that will be scheduled by individual instructors to see how participants are doing.
The four 45-minute seminars are scheduled throughout the day April 3, April 6 and April 8, with blocks from 9:30-10:15 a.m., 1-1:45 p.m., 2:30-3:15 p.m. and 4-4:15 p.m. More classes will be added soon.
PLEASE NOTE
The registration site will say the cost is $75, but members just need to hit the promo code for the free training. If members need registration help, please email ELT@nysut.org.
