Our votes counted!

thank you

We did it!

One week after the final votes were cast in the 2020 election and just days after the final call was made in the Presidential race, I am still overwhelmed with an array of emotions: excitement, relief and hope...but perhaps none more so than gratitude.

I'm grateful that a record number of Americans turned out to vote! I'm grateful that the Presidential candidate we supported earned more votes than any other ever in our country's long history of elections! And, most of all, I'm grateful to all you activists and voters who helped win this election for President-Elect Biden and Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris!

THANK YOU!

In addition to all the hard work we did to support the Biden-Harris ticket here in New York, NYSUT members "adopted" Pennsylvania and made more than 40,000 calls to our fellow AFT members there...which just happens to be the current margin of victory in the most important swing state in the nation! Congratulations!

Joe Biden will be a President who comes to work every day thinking about working families and how to make our lives better. Kamala Harris will be a Vice President—a historic Vice President!—who represents enormous progress for women and people of color. And, as a teacher and NEA member herself, Jill Biden will be a First Lady who will ensure that the voice of educators is heard in the White House!

And, if all that isn't enough, we will be able to replace Betsy DeVos with an Education Secretary who actually cares about public schools and colleges, educators, and students from all backgrounds! That in and of itself is something we should all be grateful for!

Again, congratulations on this amazing victory and THANK YOU for all the passion, hard work, and dedication you invested to make it possible!

In solidarity,

Andrew Pallotta
NYSUT President

P.S. Enjoy this victory! But get ready...there's plenty of work to be done moving forward!
