Statement from NYSUT President Melinda Person regarding reports of New York’s participation in President Trump’s voucher scheme:
"Public dollars belong in public schools. Vouchers — by any name — take money away from neighborhood schools and hand it to private institutions that don’t answer to the public. New Yorkers have rejected this approach before, and we sincerely hope that once the full details of President Trump’s voucher scheme emerge, it will be clear state leadership should reject it again."
