Center named for Cortese
Former AFT Secretary-Treasurer and past NYSUT Vice President Toni Cortese, third from left, was feted by NYSUT's officers, Board of Directors and staff during a reception marking more than 40 years of her dedication and union activism. Cortese, a founding officer of NYSUT, stepped down from the AFT in September. In her honor, NYSUT's Research and Educational Services, the department Cortese led during her tenure as a NYSUT officer, will now forever be known as the Antonia Cortese Research and Educational Services Center. Joining Cortese at the unveiling are, from left, NYSUT Vice President Kathleen Donahue, NYSUT President Dick Iannuzzi, NYSUT President Emeritus Tom Hobart, former NYSUT Executive Vice President Alan Lubin, NYSUT Vice President Maria Neira, NYSUT Secretary-Treasurer Lee Cutler and NYSUT Executive Vice President Andy Pallotta.
