Hobart McKay Rhinehart,

Hobart "Hobie" McKay Rhinehart, a longtime union activist and president of Retiree Council 4, died Dec. 8. He was 83.

Hobie taught social studies for 28 years at Cattaraugus Central School, where he served 18 years as president of the Cattaraugus Teachers Association. He was the former president of the Cattaraugus-Allegany AFL-CIO Central Labor Council and a leader in his region, in NYSUT and in other organizations. Hobie attended 40 NYSUT Representative Assemblies.
