Eileen Riley-Hall, Shenendehowa TA, wrote Parenting Girls on the Autism Spectrum: Overcoming the Challenges and Celebrating the Gifts. The mother of two daughters on the autism spectrum, Reilly-Hall wrote the book to share what she has learned and "to offer a hopeful and positive perspective to counter all the negativity out there." Lisa Jo Sagolla, Marymount Manhattan College Adjuncts, is the author of Rock 'n' Roll Dances of the 1950s, recently published by Greenwood Press/ABC-CLIO. Larry Wittner, United University Professions retiree, SUNY Albany Chapter, wrote Working for Peace and Justice: Memoirs of an Activist Intellectual. The book details Wittner's account of the labor, peace and racial justice movements, all influenced by his 43 years of full-time work as a college teacher and scholar. Experiences shared include his time as a civil rights volunteer in Mississippi and Louisiana, agitating for faculty unionization at Vassar College, serving as a member of the union's executive committee, participating in the struggle against South African apartheid and more. The New York State Council for the Social Studies presented its outstanding social studies classroom teacher awards in March. Colleen Hoffman, and Kim Lennon, Half Hollow Hills TA, received outstanding teacher awards for elementary school; for middle school teaching: Tracey Newell, Niskayuna TA, and Joseph Karb, Springville Faculty Association; Erica Martin, Chittenango TA, received a distinguished service award; and Victoria Berger, United Federation of Teachers, received the Bernard Cohen award.
