In a labor-management collaboration that will help districts more effectively implement the Common Core Standards, NYSUT's Education and Learning Trust is partnering with the New York State Council of School Superintendents and the School Administrators Association of New York State to host three regional one-day workshops this fall:

  • Oct. 2 on Long Island
  • Oct. 3 in Albany
  • Oct. 4 in Rochester

The workshops are designed to help educators strengthen curriculum and understand the Common Core skills necessary for implementation. Administrators and educators are encouraged to participate as teams.

A key presenter at each event is Sandra Alberti of Student Achievement Partners, a non-profit group founded by three contributing authors of the Common Core State Standards. Other workshop leaders include educational consultant Karen Bronson, who will help educators better understand the Common Core; Stan Finkle, a retired administrator and NYSUT ELT instructor, who will speak about connecting Common Core and teacher evaluation for administrators; and Wayne Callendar, an expert on implementing a school-wide approach to response to intervention.

Workshop fee is $175 per person, or $150 for each person who is part of a team of three or more members. For info, visit www.nysut.org/elt or contact NYSUT ELT at 800-528-6208. More information will be released in the coming weeks; for now, educators are urged to mark the dates.
