The 2016 NYSUT Representative Assembly, slated for April 8–9 in Rochester, will celebrate the unity and solidarity of our statewide federation with the theme: New York State United! The official logo, center, illustrates the coming together of upstate, downstate, east and west.
This marks the first time in a decade that NYSUT's highest governance body convenes at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center to determine the policies of the union. More than 2,000 delegates, elected by local unions in the past year, are expected to attend the fast-paced, two-day convention. The business will include debate and voting on dozens of resolutions submitted by autonomous local unions to shape the direction and priorities of NYSUT work in the coming years.
Because this is an election year for all of our state legislators, the agenda promises to brim with political personalities who want to reach out for the invaluable support of NYSUT's membership.
