The United States City Average Consumer Price Index (CPI-U) for March 2020 was 258.115 — representing a change of 1.5 percent over the index for March 2019.

The Northeast Area Consumer Price Index for March 2020 was 272.531 — representing a change of 1.7 percent over the index for March 2019.

The New York-Northern New Jersey Area Consumer Price Index for March 2020 was 281.975— representing a change of 2.0 percent over the index for March 2019.

The April CPI will be available May 12, 2020.

Future projections of the CPI by businesses and economic organizations are found in the complete document. CPI increases are projected at 0.9 percent for 2020 and 1.7 percent for 2021.
