Consumer Price Index May 2020

The United States City Average Consumer Price Index (CPI-U) for May 2020 was 256.394 — representing a change of 0.1 percent over the index for May 2019.

The Northeast Area Consumer Price Index for May 2020 was 271.345 — representing a change of 0.6 percent over the index for May 2019.

The New York-Northern New Jersey Area Consumer Price Index for May 2020 was 282.092 — representing a change of 1.4 percent over the index for May 2019.

The June CPI will be available July 14, 2020.

Future projections of the CPI by businesses and economic organizations are found in the complete document. CPI increases are projected at 0.8 percent for 2020 and 1.7 percent for 2021.
