Consumer Price Index April 2020

The United States City Average Consumer Price Index (CPI-U) for April 2020 was 256.389 — representing a change of 0.3 percent over the index for April 2019.

The Northeast Area Consumer Price Index for April 2020 was 271.325 — representing a change of 0.8 percent over the index for April 2019.

The New York-Northern New Jersey Area Consumer Price Index for April 2020 was 280.623 — representing a change of 1.1 percent over the index for April 2019.

The May CPI will be available June 10, 2020.

Future projections of the CPI by businesses and economic organizations are found in the complete document. CPI increases are projected at 0.8 percent for 2020 and 1.7 percent for 2021.
