Consumer Price Index August 2020

The United States City Average Consumer Price Index (CPI-U) for August 2020 was 259.918 — representing a change of 1.3 percent over the index for August 2019.

The Northeast Area Consumer Price Index for August 2020 was 273.597 — representing a change of 1.1 percent over the index for August 2019.

The New York-Northern New Jersey Area Consumer Price Index for August 2020 was 283.478 — representing a change of 1.4 percent over the index for August 2019.

The September CPI will be available October 13, 2020.

Future projections of the CPI by businesses and economic organizations are found in the complete document. CPI increases are projected at 1.1 percent for 2020 and 1.9 percent for 2021.
