The United States City Average Consumer Price Index (CPI-U) for March 2021 was 264.877 — representing a change of 2.6 percent over the index for March 2020.

The Northeast Area Consumer Price Index for March 2021 was 278.197 — representing a change of 2.1 percent over the index for March 2020.

The New York-Northern New Jersey Area Consumer Price Index for March 2021 was 287.481 — representing a change of 2.0 percent over the index for March 2020.

The April CPI will be available May 12, 2021.

Future projections of the CPI by businesses and economic organizations are found in the complete document. CPI increases are projected at 2.5 percent for 2021 and 2.2 percent for 2022.
