Consumer Price Index April 2021

The United States City Average Consumer Price Index (CPI-U) for April 2021 was 267.054 — representing a change of 4.2 percent over the index for April 2020. This is the largest increase since September 2008.

The Northeast Area Consumer Price Index for April 2021 was 280.234 — representing a change of 3.3 percent over the index for April 2020.

The New York-Northern New Jersey Area Consumer Price Index for April 2021 was 289.493 — representing a change of 3.2 percent over the index for April 2020.

The May CPI will be available June 10, 2021.

Future projections of the CPI by businesses and economic organizations are found in the complete document. CPI increases are projected at 2.7 percent for 2021 and 2.3 percent for 2022.
