Candidate Support Sessions and NYSUT-Funded Writing Institutes

Source: NYSUT Research and Educational Services

NYSUT is pleased to once again provide financial support for National Board Regional Writing Institutes. National Board Certification (NBC) Writing Institutes provide candidates who are pursuing or maintaining (renewing) National Board certification an opportunity for in-depth support by working with National Board Certified Teachers (NBCTs).

A Regional Writing Institute for National Board Certification is a multi-district collaboration of teachers and facilitators from various certificate areas who are engaged in peer review, video analysis, and collaboration to enhance teacher effectiveness using NBPTS’ standards.  It provides teachers who are pursuing National Board Certification an opportunity for in-depth support with Professional Learning Facilitators (PLFs). This institute is intended for current and advanced, (retake) or Maintenance of Certification (MOC) candidates. It is not an introduction to National Board Certification.

A National Board Regional Writing Institute is designed to enhance teacher effectiveness using NBPTS Standards and the five Core Propositions:

  • as a multi-district collaboration of teachers and facilitators;
  • while representing various certificate areas, and
  • as a vehicle to engage educators in peer review, video analysis, and collaboration.
