Summit

Statewide Events

NYSUT's Take a Look at Teaching summits in urban, rural, and suburban communities across the state are aimed at cultivating relationships and exploring solutions to the teacher shortage and teacher diversity challenges facing our schools. These summits are focused on bringing the right people to the table, speaking with students about their needs and experiences, and changing the narrative about teaching — highlighting the benefits of a rewarding career in education.

Previous summits took place in Syracuse, Buffalo, Potsdam, Rochester, Albany and Yonkers.

Past Events

Interested in hosting a local campus conversation on teacher recruitment and retention?

NYSUT is developing a Campus Conversation Toolkit to help local union leaders work with community partners to plan events.

Goals include strengthening partnerships between educator preparation programs and P-12 schools; expanding student knowledge about the teaching profession; and encouraging future teachers/career changers to teach needed subject areas and in hard-to-staff districts.

For more information, and to be notified when the toolkit is available online, contact teaching@nysutmail.org.
