Rose Mary Infantino, School Counselor from UFT
* School counselor
* Adlai Stevenson HS, the Bronx

Rose Mary Infantino, a retired school counselor, was devoted to her students at the now defunct Adlai Stevenson HS in the Bronx. As their college counselor, she helped set them on the path they would follow after high school.

Rose, who was 88 when she died, loved her job and it showed — through accomplishments including a nomination as Guidance Counselor of the Year. Before moving to Newtown, Connecticut, Rose lived most of her life in the Bronx. She was active in her Allerton community, including at St. Lucy’s Roman Catholic Church and on the 49th Precinct Council.

A UFT member for 37 years, Rose had a master’s degree in education from City College of New York and a master’s degree in guidance from Lehman College. An undergraduate accounting major, she met her husband when they were both students at the City College School of Business and Public Administration, now Baruch College. They wed in 1954, soon after he returned from serving in the Army, and were married for more than 65 years.

Rose initially taught business and computer classes at James Monroe and Christopher Columbus high schools, both in the Bronx, before spending her last 10 years as a school counselor at Stevenson.

A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Rose loved dancing and playing bridge.

She is survived by her husband Robert A. Infantino, her son Anthony G. Infantino, her daughter Annemarie Murphy and six grandchildren.
