      NYSUT celebrates Women’s History Month — March — with a free poster celebrating Kamala Harris, the 49th vice president of the United States. She is the first female, first Black American and first South Asian American to hold the position.
    • NYSUT Mosaics of Sisterhood Grant

      The NYSUT Mosaics of Sisterhood Grant was established in 2019 by the NYSUT Women’s Committee through a generous donation from retired Vice President, Catalina Fortino, to help our committee members who need resources for a specific short-term project, committee start up or professional learning opportunity to move the women’s agenda forward.

      March is Women’s History Month and NYSUT Women’s Committee members statewide are highlighting the many achievements of women to celebrate, including a virtual screening of the documentary "9 to 5 — The Story of a Movement" on March 18.

      The "Remember the Triangle Fire Coalition” connects individuals and organizations with the 1911 Triangle Factory Fire — one of the pivotal events in US history and a turning point in labor’s struggle to achieve fair wages, dignity at work and safe working conditions.

      The NYSUT Women’s Committee has four main goals: encourage more locals to develop in-house women’s committees; educate female members about the work of the union; highlight women-specific issues, including inequalities in pay, health care and education; and involve more union women in leadership roles.
