Women's Rights

  • Amnesty International / women's human rights - Amnesty International USA's Women's Human Rights Action Network works closely with women around the world and in the United States in the struggle to end discrimination and violence against women. 
  • Feminist Majority Foundation - An organization dedicated to women’s equality, reproductive health, and non-violence.
  • Girls, Inc. - A national girls’ leadership organization dedicated to equipping girls to reach their full potential.
  • MADRE - An international human rights organization that transcends geographies and generations to deliver sustainable gender, racial, climate, and disability justice.
  • National Women's Law Center - National Women’s Law Center fights for gender justice — in the courts, in public policy, and in our society — working across the issues that are central to the lives of women and girls.
  • The National Organization for Women The largest organization of feminist activists in the United States. NOW has hundreds of chapters and hundreds of thousands of members and activists in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
  • National Women's History Project- NWHP's mission is to recognize and celebrate the diverse and historic accomplishments of women by providing information and educational materials and programs.
  • New York State Coalition Against Domestic Violence - The New York State Coalition Against Domestic Violence is a not-for-profit membership organization whose mission is to eradicate domestic violence and to ensure the provision of effective and appropriate services to victims of domestic violence through community outreach, education, training, technical assistance and policy development.
  • Poderistas - Helping Latinas to leverage their power, not just in their own lives and families, but also within their communities — and in the voting booth.
  • Reproductive Freedom for All - Reproductive Freedom for All organizes and mobilizes our 4.5 million members to fight for access to abortion, birth control, paid parental leave, and protections from pregnancy discrimination.
  • She the People - A national organization building power for women of color to lead America to a new political era.
  • Until the Violence Stops - V-Day is a global activist movement to end violence against all women, gender-expansive people, girls and the Earth.
  • Women's International League for Peace and Freedom - WILPF works to create a world of permanent peace built on feminist foundations of freedom, justice, nonviolence, human rights and equality for all, where people, the planet and all its other inhabitants coexist and flourish in harmony.
  • YWCA of the USA - The YWCA has been on the forefront of the most important issues of the day for more than 160 years, improving the lives of women and girls through advocacy, local programming and services. The YWCA is on a mission to eliminate racism, empower women, stand up for social justice, help families and strengthen communities.
  • Zonta International - Zonta International is a global service organization of executives in business and the professions working together, across political and social boundaries, to advance the status of women worldwide.

Racial Justice

  • Civil Rights Movement Veterans - Created by and for veterans of the Southern Freedom Movement of the 1960s.
  • Coalition of Black Trade Unionists - With members from 77 international and national unions over 65 chapters across the country, CBTU is the fiercely independent voice of Black workers within the trade union movement, challenging organized labor to be more relevant to the needs and aspirations of Black and poor workers.
  • Library of America - A nonprofit organization that provides resources for readers to explore the nation’s rich, living legacy, including Reporting Civil Rights: American Journalism, a two-part volume on the civil rights movement.
  • NAACP - The primary focus of the NAACP continues to be the protection and enhancement of the civil rights of African Americans and other minorities.
  • National Civil Rights Museum - Located at the former Lorraine Motel, where civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated, the National Civil Rights Museum takes visitors through interactive exhibits and historic collections to learn more about the American Civil Rights Movement.
  • Southern Poverty Law Center - The Southern Poverty Law Center was founded in 1971 as a small civil rights law firm. Today, the Center is internationally known for its tolerance education programs, its legal victories against white supremacists and its tracking of hate groups.
  • Voices of the Civil Rights Movement -Personal stories, oral histories, photographs, and personal artifacts of the American Civil Rights.
  • United States Commission on Civil Rights - The United States Commission on Civil Rights (USCCR) is an independent, bipartisan, fact-finding agency of the Executive Branch, first established under the Civil Rights Act of 1957.

LGBTQ

  • GLISTEN - Glisten is dedicated to creating safe and respectful learning environments for youth of all sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expressions, race and abilities.
  • Outright International - Outright is dedicated to working with partners around the globe to strengthen the capacity of the LGBTIQ human rights movement, document and amplify human rights violations against LGBTIQ people, and advocate for inclusion and equality.  

Civil and Human Rights

  • American Civil Liberties Union - The ACLU has been at the center of nearly every major civil liberties battle in the U.S. for more than 100 years.
  • Amnesty International - Amnesty International is a global movement of more than 10 million people who are committed to creating a future where human rights are enjoyed by everyone.
  • Children's Defense Fund - The mission of the Children's Defense Fund is to build community so young people grow up with dignity, hope and joy.
  • Electronic Frontier Foundation - The Electronic Frontier Foundation champions user privacy, free expression, and innovation through impact litigation, policy analysis, grassroots activism, and technology development. EFF's mission is to ensure that technology supports freedom, justice, and innovation for all people of the world.
  • Human Rights Watch - HRW is an organization of 500 experts, lawyers, journalists, and others who work to protect the most at risk — from vulnerable minorities and civilians in wartime, to refugees and children in need. The group investigates and reports on abuses happening in all corners of the world.
  • Peace Action Education Fund - The Peace Action Education Fund works to free the world from the scourge of nuclear weapons, promotes government spending priorities that support human needs, and advocates for a foreign policy that embodies respect for human rights, all fundamental changes in current U.S. foreign and military policy. 
  • People for the American Way - People For the American Way is a national progressive advocacy organization that inspires and mobilizes Americans to defend freedom, justice, and democracy from those who threaten to take them away.
  • Restorative Justice - Restorative Justice Online is a service of Prison Fellowship International. It is a gateway site with links to this important movement for social justice worldwide.
